Allora oggi . . . it is about side streets and doorways. For some odd reason I love photographing side streets and doorways. There is something about side streets and doorways that draws me and I find them fascinating, appealing and intriguing. Metaphorically speaking, it seems that life is more interesting, richer, and surprising when taking the side streets. As for doorways, it is entertaining to imagine and wonder what is just past the doorways. Who lives on the other side of the door, what are their lives like, what occasions and life events have occurred and what are people shielding from the rest of the world or attempting to keep out? Sometimes there is an opportunity to get a glimpse of the scene beyond the doorway and other times the scene is only in my head. Having said that, a few photos of the side streets and doorways I came across in Italy.
